# Competition

> See who's winning, and where. Prompts to paste into Claude or any assistant connected to Oppin.

Paste a prompt into an assistant connected to Oppin ([how to connect](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/overview.md)) and replace the parts in \[brackets] with your own. In Oppin, the **MCP** tab of the **Data & MCP** page has the same prompts with your brand and a competitor already filled in.

## Quick questions

One question, one answer. Paste it as it is.

### Which competitors are ahead of us, and on what?

*Quick question*

Competitors ranked, with the metric each one beats you on.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, which competitors are ahead of us, and on what?
```

### Which questions are we losing to competitors?

*Quick question*

The questions where a rival leads, biggest gap first.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, which questions are we losing to competitors?
```

### Which questions do we own?

*Quick question*

The questions where you lead, busiest first.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, which questions do we own?
```

## Workflows

A few steps and one useful result.

### Where a rival beats us

*Workflow · Insight chart (gap per question)*

Turn "they're ahead" into a list of specific questions to win back.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, where does [competitor] beat us? Chart it: one row per question, a dot for us and a dot for them, sorted by the gap. Say which AI assistants it happens on, and show me two example answers.
```

* **You get:** A gap chart where the distance between the dots is the gap, biggest first, plus the assistants it happens on and two real answers.
* **Why it helps:** A specific list beats a gap in a headline number.

### Competitor radar

*Workflow · Answer*

Hear about competitor moves only when they're real.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, did any competitor gain or lose more than 5 points this month? For each one that did, show which questions they now win and which sites are citing them. If nobody moved that much, say the field was stable.
```

* **You get:** Only the flagged brands, biggest move first, with the evidence.
* **Why it helps:** Quiet by default, specific when something happens.
* **Shortcut:** the [`oppin_competitor_radar`](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/commands#competitor-radar) command runs the same analysis.
* **Take it further:** Slack, daily; see [Competitor surge alert](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/use-cases/pulse.md#competitor-surge-alert).

### Engine blind spot

*Workflow · Insight chart*

Find the AI assistant where you're weakest, and why.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, which AI assistant are we weakest on, and why? Chart the kinds of sites it reads next to the kinds our strongest assistant reads, check whether our own pages show up on both, and suggest three fixes.
```

* **You get:** Engines ranked, a side-by-side chart of what each one reads, and three targeted actions.
* **Why it helps:** Engines differ mostly because they read different sources. This shows which.
* **Shortcut:** the [`oppin_engine_scorecard`](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/commands#engine-scorecard) command with output `page` runs the same analysis.

### Markets a rival owns

*Workflow · Insight chart (map)*

See which countries you're losing and to whom.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, draw a world map of where we're behind: shade each country by how far we trail the leader there, and label who leads. Then rank the five markets where we trail most.
```

* **You get:** A map where the dark countries are the ones someone else owns, plus the top five as a table, with thin-data countries flagged.
* **Why it helps:** A market plan starts from where you actually lose.
* **Take it further:** A shareable map page; see [Shareable dashboard page](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/use-cases/reporting.md#shareable-dashboard-page).

### Topic heatmap

*Workflow · Interactive page*

See which topics you own, which you lose, and which nobody owns yet.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, build an interactive heatmap of our topics against our competitors, colored by Brand Strength. Mark who leads each topic, fade cells with too little data, and let me click a cell to see the questions behind it.
```

* **You get:** A topic by brand grid with each row's leader marked, a click-through to the questions behind any cell, and the two topics most worth effort.
* **Why it helps:** "Nobody owns this yet" is the cheapest ground to take.
* **Shortcut:** the [`oppin_topic_heatmap`](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/commands#topic-heatmap) command with output `page` runs the same analysis.

### Prospect snapshot

*Workflow · Deliverable (one slide) · For sales · For agencies*

Walk into a call knowing the prospect's AI visibility gaps.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, make me one slide on [prospect] for my call: how visible they are in AI answers, their three closest rivals, and a chart of the questions where those rivals beat them. Put five talking points in the speaker notes, and separate facts from your interpretation.
```

* **You get:** One slide that opens the meeting, with the talking points in the notes.
* **Why it helps:** A sales opener built on the prospect's own numbers.
* **Note:** The prospect must be a brand or competitor in the workspace. If they aren't, add them as a competitor on a brand in the same category. Their history appears straight away, as far as they show up in that brand's answers. A brand-new workspace has no history.
* **Take it further:** Calendar-triggered; see [Pre-call brief from the calendar](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/use-cases/reporting.md#pre-call-brief-from-the-calendar) and [Add \[new competitor\] as a competitor. Their site is \[domain\].](https://docs.oppin.ai/mcp/use-cases/tracking#add-new-competitor-as-a-competitor-their-site-is-domain).

## Agent tasks

Longer tasks: the assistant investigates and reasons before it writes anything up.

### Why competitors win

*Agent · Answer (three patterns with evidence)*

The three patterns that explain most of the gap to your competitors.

```text wrap theme={null}
Using Oppin, look at the questions where competitors consistently beat us. Don't just list them: look for patterns. Is the gap concentrated in certain topics, certain assistants, certain countries, or certain kinds of sources? For the biggest patterns, compare what AI says about them and about us, and which sites cite them but not us. Finish with the three patterns that explain most of the gap, each with its evidence.
```

* **You get:** Three patterns, not thirty rows.
* **Why it helps:** Shows what to change, not just where you lose.
