Most problems come down to one of three things: the app is not using Oppin in that chat, the connection has less access than you expected, or the question read a different period than the dashboard.
A quick check for any of them: ask your app Using Oppin, which organization am I connected to, and can this connection change anything? It answers with the organization, its brands, and whether the connection is read-only.

Connecting

Oppin does not show up in my app

  • Turn it on in the chat. In Claude, open the tools menu in the chat and switch Oppin on. Other apps have a similar tools or connectors menu.
  • Start a new chat. A chat that was already open when you connected may not see Oppin yet.
  • Start your question with “Using Oppin”. Otherwise the app may answer from memory or from the web instead of your data.
  • Check the connection is still there. In Oppin, open Data & MCP (the MCP tab) and look under Connected applications. If your app is not listed, connect it again.
  • On Claude’s free plan, only one custom connector is allowed. Remove the other one first, or use a paid plan.

The approval page says “Something is missing”

The page opened without the details your app sends with it. Start the connection again from your app rather than from a saved or shared link.

The approval page lists no organization

It says You do not belong to an Oppin organization yet when the account you are signed in with is not a member of any organization. Sign out and sign in with the account your team invited, or ask an admin to invite you.

I picked the wrong organization

One connection reads one organization. Disconnect it, then connect again and pick the right one.

Access

My app says the connection is read-only

The app relays one of two messages. “This connection has read-only access to Oppin.” The connection can read but not change tracking. Two usual reasons:
  • You have view-only access in that organization. Members with view-only access always connect read-only. An admin can change your role to Editor under Users (see Team and roles). Then disconnect and connect again, because a connection keeps the access it was approved with.
  • Your app only asked to read. The approval page lists what the connection gets. Connect again and check that Change what you track is on the list before you click Connect.
“This Oppin API key is read-only.” The app is using an API key that was created with Read only access. A key’s access is fixed when it is created, so an admin creates a new one with Read and write on the API & Connectors tab of Data & MCP, and you replace the old key in your app.

It could change things before, and now it cannot

If your role in the organization changes to view-only, every connection you approved drops to read-only straight away.

What no connection can do

Whatever its access, a connection cannot create brands, and it never reaches billing, members, API keys or organization settings. Those stay in Oppin.

Messages from Oppin

”The person who connected this application no longer has access to that organization.”

A connection belongs to the person who approved it. They have left the organization or been removed, so Oppin disconnected it. Connect again with your own account.

”The organization has no active subscription.”

Connections stop answering when the subscription ends and work again once it is renewed. An admin can check Billing in Oppin.

”This organization is not available.”

The organization has not finished setting up (its plan is not paid yet), or it has been closed. Finish setup in Oppin, then ask again.

”Plan limit reached”

Changes made from your app count against your plan exactly as they do in the dashboard, and the message names the limit: tracked prompts, brands, AI engines per prompt, or answers this month. Stop prompts you no longer need, or upgrade the plan. Claude has its own messages: Claude needs the Claude add-on when the organization does not have it, and Claude add-on full when every seat is taken. See Claude add-on.

”This key is limited to … requests per minute.”

Each connection can make 240 requests a minute, and the portfolio summary across all brands can run 30 times an hour. A long analysis can reach that. Wait a minute, then ask the app to continue.

My app asks me to sign in again

A connection renews itself while you use it. One left unused for 30 days, or disconnected in Oppin, has to be connected again: follow your app’s prompt, or remove Oppin from the app and add it again. As a precaution, Oppin also ends a connection if an old sign-in is ever reused.

My app says a result was too large

Some apps cap how much a tool can return. Ask for fewer rows, a shorter period, or one topic or AI engine at a time. Oppin returns 25 rows by default and up to 200 when asked.

Numbers

The numbers do not match the dashboard

Your app reads the same data with the same calculations as the dashboard. When the numbers differ, the question almost always covered something else:
  • The period. The dashboard opens on the last 7 days. Your app reads the last 30 days unless you say otherwise, so name the period: in the last 7 days, or exact dates.
  • The filters. Filters you set in the dashboard do not carry over. Name the AI engine, country, topic or tag in your question.
  • The brand. With several brands in the organization, name the one you mean.
  • Counting by hand. Share of voice counts each answer once per brand, so adding up mentions will not reproduce it. See Share of voice.

The answer is thin or empty

  • Answers are collected once a day. A brand or prompt added today has little to read until the next collection, and a trend over one or two days rests on few answers.
  • Query fan-out only comes from the engines that expose it: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude.
  • Sources listed as unclassified are waiting for the hourly classifier. Ask again later.
  • A sentiment of -1 means there is no sentiment data yet, not that it is negative.
  • Brands with fewer than six mentions are marked as limited data, so their rank is not firm yet.

Disconnect or start over

In Oppin, open Data & MCP, stay on the MCP tab, and find the connection under Connected applications. Click Disconnect: it loses access straight away. Admins see and can disconnect every connection in the organization; everyone else sees their own.
The Connected applications list, showing each connected app, who connected it, when, and whether it can change tracking
Then remove Oppin from your app as well (in Claude, under Customize, then Connectors). To start over, connect it again.

Still stuck

Message us from the chat in Oppin. Tell us which app you use and the exact message it showed, and we will take it from there.
